The Texas Workforce Commission is dealing with hundreds of thousands of suspicious unemployment claims filed last year.
The state was already handling a larger volume of legitimate claims because the pandemic shutdowns.
In 2019, the agency received just over 11-hundred suspicious claims out of about 657-thousand.
Last year, out of more than four-million claims, 234-thousand were suspicious. The agency says the suspicious claims are made possible through identity theft.
