UPDATE: The Suspected Shooter of Texas DPS Officer Commits Suicide

The Shooter of Texas DPS Officer Chad Walker commits suicide.

DeArthur Pinson, Jr., the suspect accused of shooting DPS Trooper Chad Walker, is dead by apparent suicide according to Limestone County Judge Richard Duncan Saturday evening (3-27-2021). No other details are available at the time of this posting.

Walker was shot multiple times in the head and abdomen and is in critical condition in a Waco hospital. Multiple prayer vigils for the trooper were held Saturday (3-27-2021) all around the Waco area.

A Blue Alert was issued overnight for Pinson, who was last seen wearing glasses, a black hoodie and shorts with a stripe down the side. Pinson is a Black man, 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 220 pounds.Texas officials have issued a Blue Alert following the shooting of a DPS officer near Mexia Friday night.

DPS Sgt. Ryan Howard says the trooper was shot by DeArthur Pinson Jr., 36 at FM 2838 and Highway 84.

The trooper was flown to a hospital in critical condition.

The suspect is to be considered armed and dangerous and the public is advised not to approach him but rather call 9-1-1 with the location.

He was last seen wearing glasses, a black hoodie, and shorts with a stripe down the side. He reportedly has some facial hair.
