Houston in Running to Host 2026 World Cup Games

Houston is making a bid to be one of 16 host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

On Wednesday this week, the 2026 Houston World Cup Bid Committee had a virtual meeting with FIFA and USA Football officials. They mostly discussed the details of NRG Stadium. The 70-thousand-seat arena hosted the 2017 Super Bowl, and has also seen plenty of international soccer action.

Ten of the 16 host cities will be in the U.S. FIFA officials will visit Houston in late summer, and are expected to decide on the final ten American host cities late this year.
