The Triple-A Texas Weekend Gas Watch says the statewide average gas price in Texas is $2.48 a gallon for regular unleaded.
That price is up seven-cents from a week ago, and is 38-cents more than a year ago. The national average is $2.75.
Triple-A says the increase in gas prices is due to the rising price of crude, tightening gas supplies, and increased gas demand.
The average price at the pump in Houston is $2.45.
