It seems like just yesterday, "vote for me and you will receive a $2,000 stimulus check" Joe Biden promised. As the wait continues, the $1.9 trillion Covid relief bill is now before the Senate, and so who better to ask about it than Texas Senator John Cornyn? who we asked about the massive package. "I don't think there's evidence that we need another stimulus bill" Cornyn said, especially after the revelation that only 9% of the bill actually goes to Covid relief. For Democrats, it's the gift that keeps on giving. "Our Democrat friends point out that this is a popular package" Cornyn says adding that "free money is always going to be popular." It worked in Georgia during the runoffs. And in addition to all of the pork that is in the bill, there is also the criminal aspect, like the woman in Houston who was caught after swindling $3.5 million from the CARES act, which she used to buy multiple homes and cars, and other lavish gifts. Cornyn says this can't happen, "People who abuse the good will of the American people are going to pay a price, and I am confident that she will be held accountable." The Senate spent 11 hours reading the 628 page bill, finishing at 2am. Republicans are now expected to make their amendments as they head into the weekend.
