It took a group of groups to accomplish it: 1,000 trees are now planted in medians that were formerly ugly esplanades in the South Acres/Crestmont Park community. The trees will serve many purposes.
- Beautifying the area
- Flood avoidance
- Reduce mowing acreage
- Increase the Houston Tree Canopy
The groups involved include
- Apache Corporation
- Trees for Houston
- Texas A&M Forest Service
- Houston Parks and Recreation Department - Forestry Program
All the trees planted today (1-23-2021) will be maintained by the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. .
