Houston Gets a Thousand New Trees!

It took a group of groups to accomplish it: 1,000 trees are now planted in medians that were formerly ugly esplanades in the South Acres/Crestmont Park community. The trees will serve many purposes.

  1. Beautifying the area
  2. Flood avoidance
  3. Reduce mowing acreage
  4. Increase the Houston Tree Canopy

The groups involved include

  • Apache Corporation
  • Trees for Houston
  • Texas A&M Forest Service
  • Houston Parks and Recreation Department - Forestry Program

All the trees planted today (1-23-2021) will be maintained by the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. .
