Texas is a Law and Order State, Says Abbott

Gov. Greg Abbott is promising Texas is a law and order state.

The governor said during a roundtable meeting this past week he wants to make it harder for cities to reduce police funding, including a freeze on property tax revenue.

"Cities across the country like Minneapolis, like Portland, like Seattle and unfortunately even the City of Austin in the state of Texas are doing things like defunding law enforcement agencies," Abbott told the members of the task force.

Abbott says the state needs to reform its bail system to keep dangerous criminals from getting out.

Ideas include a uniform court management system, increasing the judicial requirements before bail is set, and making sure judges look at all the information before setting bail. He believes the changes would keep Texans safe,
