Now that the Democrats control the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, Conservatives worry they might try to stack the deck for future elections. Democrats may look to put forward an item long on their agenda: re-introducing a bill to provide statehood to the District of Columbia.
“If D.C. were to become a state, they’d get two senators. The likelihood of them being Democrats would be almost a hundred percent likely,” Texas A&M Professor Dudley Poston told KTRH.
Conservatives are also worried President Biden might try to stack the Supreme Court by adding at least two more liberal justices.
“I think [Democrats are] more likely to go for the statehood option,” Poston said. “Because the Supreme Court option, as soon as they lost control, the Republicans would do something, and that would go back and forth.”
