Covid Lockdowns: A New Study Shows May Not Have Been Worth The Damage

Lost in all of the election coverage, more lockdowns and rollbacks here in Houston due to higher hospitalization rates. But a new study actually finds that overly restrictive lockdowns don't work, and have not been worth the economic damage that has been done to so many American businesses. Political analyst Jared Woodfill told KTRH, "The collateral damage that's resulting from these lockdowns is huge. And people are feeling it every single day. This study simply confirms that the lockdowns are not achieving the results that they were intended to achieve." But it has been and achievement here in Houston, were local leaders continue to push for more lockdowns. Woodfill says the disconnect is stunning. "The truth is, that Mayor Turner and Judge Hidalgo, they're continuing to get their big fat paychecks while every single one of us has to continue to live under their oppressive policies. They're working to destroy small businesses." And Woodfill also points out that Governor Greg Abbott needs to be held accountable, even though he promised no more lockdowns. Houston area restaurants have been reduced to 50% capacity, while bars have been completely shut down. And there are no elective surgeries right now either. "He unilaterally puts in place orders that have shut down businesses in Harris County. That is just wrong!" Woodfill says. "Hopefully there will be an opportunity to hold Governor Abbott accountable for these unconstitutional repressive policies that have impacted all Texans." Hopefully, before it's too late.
