The Triple-A Texas Weekend Gas Watch says the statewide average gas price in Texas is $1.99 a gallon for regular unleaded. That price is up five-cents from a week ago, but it's still 30-cents less than a year ago.
The national average is $2.30.
Crude oil prices are climbing, but the winter season and the pandemic are keeping demand low as people drive fewer miles.
The average price at the pump in Houston is $1.96.
