The volume of calls overwhelmed the City of Houston Health’s phone system this morning and crashed the system.
Appointments have gone to onsite only at the Bayou Event Center at 9401 Knight Road. Hundreds are already in line as of 10am.
The city has 750 doses of free Moderna vaccines available and says they will make 750 appointments today.
To make an appointment, you must meet Phase 1A or Phase 2B criteria.You must be a resident of Houston who is a front line or health care worker, or be 65 or older, or be 18 or older with a chronic health condition. Moderna vaccines are only available to individuals over the age of 18.
CAPACITY IS LIMITED TO 750 APPOINTMENTS TODAY.
The City of Houston expects to get the phone system operating today once the issues are resolved. The number is 832-393-4220.
