Shipping Deadlines for 2020

2020 has been a challenge for the USPS, because of the pandemic and having to get mail through even if there is sleet, snow and all that, and because of the volume of mailed ballots in this presidential election year.

Now comes the holidays.

Due to fewer face-to-face get-togethers this year because of the pandemic more people than normal are expected to mail packages of presents, and the best date to target getting your packages out by is December 15.

For USPS the deadlines are:

Retail ground Dec 15

First Class Mail Dec 18

Priority Mail Dec 19

Priority Express Dec 23

For UPS service December 15 is a good general target, but you’ll still be able to send packages with 3-day service on Monday, December 21. The 22nd is the last day to use 2 day delivery to get the presents there by Christmas Eve. You can arrange UPS On-Call Pickup Service for the 23rd or 24th.

Fed Ex packages can be dropped off up until the Wednesday before Christmas Eve, but packages won’t be delivered on Christmas Day.
