Houston Car Dealers Offering Deals Amid Shortage of New Vehicles

Local car dealers are gearing up for a busy holiday season after a down year.

Car sales are expected to be busy as Texans look to trade in or trade up. However, car dealers note one potential problem within the next few weeks: a shortage of new vehicles.

“[The car manufacturers] just can’t produce new cars as quickly as the dealers need them, and a lot of that is pent up demand. It’s just being behind from when the plants were shut down due to COVID,” Jerry Reynolds, with CarProUSA, told KTRH.

Reynolds says many may consider buying a used vehicle instead. He says if you're looking to sell, there's still demand in the Greater Houston area for used trucks and SUV's. By December 31st, Reynolds expects car sales locally to only be down 9 percent year over year.
