Gas Prices Up, But Texas Drivers Still Pay Among the Lowest

Texas drivers are still paying some of the cheapest prices at the pump.

AAA Texas finds the Lone Star State has the third lowest gas prices in the country. This week regular unleaded rose a couple of cents to $1.81 statewide after three weeks of consecutive price drops. The uptick is likely due to a rise in the price of crude oil.

“Demand is still very weak for gasoline compared to last year. Plus we are getting into the winter months. So, more than likely gas prices will remain stable,” AAA Texas Spokesperson Joshua Zuber said.

Houston bucked the trend, with the local price falling one cent this week to $1.76. This time last year, Houston gas prices were 46 cents higher.
