The Texas Democratic Party believes that turning Texas blue starts in the Rio Grande Valley.
That's why the state party is spending more on advertising in South Texas than ever before.
Though the area has always been solidly Democratic, a spokesman says Texas Democrats are spending a record amount in the Valley this year to encourage people to vote.
The spokesman declined to say exactly how much was being spent in South Texas, saying only that Democrats would be spending "six figures" on advertising throughout the state.
