Thousands Of Hurricane Laura Evacuees Still In Texas

A month after Hurricane Laura, thousands of refugees from Louisiana are still wondering when they can go home.

The storm displaced more than 11-thousand residents of Cameron and Calcasieu parishes.

More than 48-hundred of them are living in Texas motel rooms, many of them in the Houston area.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says more than 160-thousand families have applied for help. Damage from the storm is estimated at between eight-billion and 12-billion-dollars.
