Harris County Suing Over 2020 Census

Harris County is joining a federal lawsuit trying to block the Census Bureau's plan to end counting for the 2020 census a month ahead of time.

The count had been extended to the end of October because of the pandemic, but the Census Bureau moved the deadline up to September 30th.

The League of Women Voters and the National Urban League filed suit in California on Monday, claiming the Census Bureau's move is unconstitutional and illegal.

Harris County joined the suit, along with County Commissioners Rodney Ellis and Adrian Garcia.
