On Friday, Texas and U.S. flags flew at half mast in honor and memory of Fort Hood Private First Class Vanessa Guillien. Her memorial service on Friday was attended by many of people who may or may not have known her. Saturday was her funeral for family, dignitaries and close friends. Our TV partner Channel 2 was there and spoke to people attending."Today is a chance to pray with the family and pay our respects. We will give them the distance that they need.”
SPC Guillien, who was reported missing to law enforcement on April 23, 2020, was allegedly murdered months ago by a fellow Fort Hood soldier. She grew up in Houston playing soccer and dreaming of joining the military. She was 20 years old when she died.
