Texas Has Pretty Lousy Roads Overall

If you're going out for a Sunday drive on Houston interestates expect to encounter construction. Tex Dot frequently likes to close interstates on weekends. But let's not complain.

A recent survey says Houston's roads are better that those in the DFW area, but not as good as San Antonio's.

The study by the Federal Highway Administration and a car-buyers' web site called CoPilot ranks Houston 22nd for the worst roads in the nation.

The survey says up to 25-percent of the urban roads in Texas are in bad condition, though the lighter traffic of the coronavirus era is enabling roadwork projects to be finished sooner.

DFW's roads were ranked as the nation's 12th-worst, and San Antonio's were 31st.
