Benches clear as Astros and Dodgers rivalry heats up

When Major League Baseball's investigation concluded the Houston Astros used sign stealing during the 2017 season, the team they beat for the World Series title, the Los Angeles Dodgers, reacted badly. And when baseball put the two teams on the schedule in this shortened 2020 season you had the feeling tempers might flare. That's exactly what happened last night at Minute Maid Park.

Joe Kelly of the Dodgers sent a message by throwing behind Alex Bregman in the sixth inning of an Astros 5-2 loss to L.A. Later on Kelly struck out Carlos Correa. That's when the trash talking started. It's also when the benches cleared.

Cooler heads eventually prevailed, but the fact that it happened should not surprise you considering what some Dodgers players had to say about the Astros during the off-season.
