Houston Joins Mayors Asking for Additional Relief

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner is one of nearly 100 Texas mayors who are asking Congress for more funding to help offset revenue losses due to the pandemic-related economic slowdown.

The downturn has sharply reduced sales tax revenues in the state.

Texas received 11-billion dollars from the CARES Act, which were divided among the state, county and city governments.

The House of Representatives has approved a Democratic plan to add another trillion-dollars for local governments, but the GOP-led Senate hasn't approved it.
