The State Fair of Texas will not happen this year.
The Board of Directors announced the cancellation of the Fair today citing the coronavirus pandemic and the need to keep workers, fairgoers, and the community safe.
Board Chair Gina Norris says it's the safest and most responsible decision.
The Texas-OU and Grambling-Prairie View A&M football games could still happen inside the Cotton Bowl, but the Fair says that's up to the NCAA and schools. As it stands, but UT and the Sooners say they're game, but it will depend on where we are with coronavirus cases at the time.
The Fair was last canceled during World War Two when soldiers were housed at the fairground.
