Veep Goes to Texas

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence visited Texas today and started his day off with church at Dallas First Baptist Church. He brought with him White House Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Deborah Birx, Housing Secretary Ben Carson and Senator John Cornyn. Afterward they met with Governor Greg Abbot.

Dr. Birx cautioned every Texan to wear a mask when out of their home. "We know now there is scientific evidence that masks not only protect others from you, but may protect you from others. That's a new discover and a new finding. It's a very encouraging discovery for Texans - knowing that you can protect one another." Vice President Mike Pence on Sunday pledged to commit the resources Texas needs to win the fight against COVID-19, and he urged Americans to be diligent about wearing masks and washing hands in order to mitigate the spread of the deadly virus. “President Trump wanted us to be here today with the developments over the last two weeks with the rising positivity and the rising number of cases with a very simple message and that is to you, the people of Texas: "We’re with you,” Pence said. “We’re going to stay with you. We’re going to make sure that our health care system in Texas has the resources, has the supplies, has the personnel to meet this moment.”
