Health officials are treating an area of northwest Harris County where a mosquito tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
Harris County Public Health confirmed that the disease-carrying insect had been found on Tuesday.
The Mosquito and Vector Control Division started treating the area to reduce the risk of human infection.
Mosquitoes in Montgomery County have also tested positive for West Nile.
Health officials report that only a few of the 56 local species of mosquito transmit West Nile, Zika, or other diseases.
