All 38 of Houston's public swimming pools and 27 splash pads are going to stay closed through the entire Memorial Day weekend.
And if you were thinking about losing those Covid 19 pounds you gained during quarantine to fit into your speedos, you could be off the hook.
Mayor Sylvester Turner says while this weekend is normally the traditional opening for the city's pools, Houston public pools will stay closed not only for the weekend but the entire summer.
The mayor says the COVID-19 pandemic is why he's made the decision and says he understands people will be disappointed by it.
If you had been looking forward to hearing those familiar and comforting sounds of a swimming pool, this is going to be your only option.
