Houston police, law enforcement across the country, honor the fallen today

At noon today, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, members of the HPD Command Staff and HPD officers will join with other law enforcement agencies and cities around the nation in a moment of silence in honor of those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

All officers around the city will pause and turn on their emergency equipment in honor of their fallen law enforcement comrades. HPD officers and HPD patrol vehicles will line around the HPD Edward A. Thomas Building at 1200 Travis.

The moment of silence will be done in conjunction with other National Police Week 2020 observances around the state and the country.

The city lost Officer Jason Knox, son of Houston City Council Member Mike Knox, when the helicopter he was in crashed into an apartment building two weeks ago. Officer Chase Cormier was severely injured in that accident.
