The Death Toll Is Rising

Are more people dying today in the U.S., during the Covid 19 pandemic, than normal?

Yes. Epidemiologists are looking at excess deaths, the number of death certificates filed in excess to what would be expected of a rolling average.

In 2019, 7,969.7 people died every day of all causes.

During the 2018-2019 season flu season, the most recent year for which there are statistics, on average, about 161 people in the U.S. died from the flu.

In 2020, as of last Friday, the novel Coronavirus is claiming 1,687 lives daily.

According to Statistica, in the U.S. today one in every three death is caused by Covid 19.

Today the cumulative global death toll from Coronavirus is 298,295. In the U.S. today we are expected to total 85,000.
