Houston Health Center Receives $180K Federal Grant to Expand Telehealth

The Bee Busy Wellness Center in Houston will receive a $182,854 federal grant to expand its telehealth capabilities, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) announced today.

“Congress passed the CARES Act with resources to expand telehealth so that Texans can stay home and receive care, protecting both patients and providers,” said Sen. Cornyn. “I’m thankful to the Trump Administration for further expanding access to telehealth in Houston.”

The grant, which comes from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will allow the Bee Busy Wellness Center to purchase video monitors and connected devices to provide primary and preventive medical services, including remote monitoring, diagnosis and treatment, to COVID-19 vulnerable populations in Houston and surrounding areas. You can read more about the FCC’s COVID-19 Telehealth Program, authorized by the CARES Act, here.
