Hidalgo warns we aren't any safer from the virus despite re-opening

Texas has flattened the curve when it comes to the fight against COVID-19, but Harris County judge Lina Hidalgo is sounding the alarm, warning residents not to get too comfortable despite the fact that Texas is re-opening.

"Residents are puzzled. They are getting mixed messages. Let me give it to you straight. It's not any safer than it was two weeks ago or three weeks ago," Hidalgo said. "We still don;t have a cure. We still don't have a vaccine. This may well be the calm before the storm. Let's hope it's not."

Hidalgo also announced that the Fairbanks North Houston detention basin project for flood mitigation is days away from being completed. The hurricane season starts on June first.
