The NFL gave starved sports fans another treat Thursday night. Two weeks after the NFL Draft, the league released its full 2020 season schedule. The schedule includes 16 games over 17 weeks starting on time in early September, but the coronavirus pandemic could still change plans.
SportsTalk 790 host and former NFL player Sean Salisbury tells KTRH the league still has a lot to decide before anyone hits the field. "I think what you'll see is two or three plans, one that says we can play 16 (games), another that says we can play 12, and then a third plan that says we'll play these games, but when do we allow fans in the stands," says Salisbury. "I do believe we'll be playing football, but I don't believe there'll be fans in the stands for most of it. And I think they're going to do everything they can to get 16 games in...I can't imagine them playing the season with less than 12 games."
As for the schedule itself, the Texans have just two scheduled national games, both on Thursdays. They'll open the season Thursday September 10 against the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs in Kansas City. The Texans will also make their second-ever appearance on Thanksgiving Day, taking on the Lions in Detroit. The Texans also played at Detroit on Turkey Day back in 2012.
