Galveston County Reports Two New COVID-19 Deaths, Nine New Cases

Galveston County Health District today reports 9 new positive COVID-19 cases in Galveston County residents. This brings the county’s case total to 401.

We are saddened to report 2 additional deaths.

  • A male, age range 81-90, passed away April 15. He had pre-existing medical conditions.
  • A male, age range 71-80, passed away April 15. He had pre-existing medical conditions.

We’re also reporting 14 additional recoveries, bringing the total to 144. We are reporting recovered cases now with its own graphic, tracking cases by city, age range and gender. This will be part of our daily case update.

Today, the health district tested 158 people through its free COVID-19 drive-thru testing site. To date, 823 tests have been performed with 12 positive and 521 negative results reported back to the health district. All other results are currently pending. Testing is not limited to just Galveston County residents, but only county residents who tested positive for COVID-19 will be included in the health district’s daily case update.

To date, 5,004 Galveston County residents have been tested. This number does not include Galveston County residents who may have been tested outside the county.
