Parents have been scrambling for childcare alternatives as schools have closed and businesses are shuttered during the Coronavirus pandemic, but alternatives have come together to provide needed options for the essential and frontline workers.
In Houston, the City and Harris County are partnering with Workforce Solutions to create an endowment that allows essential workers to find quality childcare through Collaborative for Children, an early childhood development resource that has been serving the community for decades and has now stepped up in this unique time.
They are offering assistance for those who are in need of childcare, those who are in need of both childcare and financial assistance, and those who already have childcare arrangements but are in need of financial assistance.
It all begins at the portal findchildcarenow.org and an online registration form.
Governor Abbott has announced a partnership between the state of Texas and Care.com, connecting front-line workers who need childcare with caregivers.Care.com is offering 90-days of free access to their services at https://texasfrontline.care.com/.
It could be a potential source of income for sidelined workers who have experience with children. Many people are volunteering their services as caregivers for children as well as caregivers for elderly.
