Harris County District Courts have suspended jury service through May 8 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
This measure comes on the heels of a March 31 decision by Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo to extend her Stay Home-Work Safe Order through April 30. The order advises non-essential businesses to shut down and for residents to stay home except for essential activities.
Additionally, also on March 31, Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order implementing Essential Services and Activities Protocols for the entire state of Texas. The protocols direct all Texans to minimize non-essential gatherings and in-person contact with people who are not in the same household.
