IN TEXAS, SUNDAY BEGINS WITH 2,492 CASES OF CORONAVIRUS REPORTED IN THE LONE STAR STATE AND 35 DEATHS. THE HOUSTON AREA HAS 744 CONFIRMED CASES. 115 OF THE STATE'S 254 COUNTIES HAVE REPORTED CASES - THAT'S 45%.

GOVERNOR ABBOTT IS ALLOWING ADVANCE PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES WHOSE LICENCES HAVE EXPIRED IN THE PAST FOUR YEARS TO REJOIN THE WORKFORCE WITHOUT HAVING TO COMPLY TO STANDARD RE-LICENSING RESTRICTIONS.

GOVERNOR ABBOTT WILL HAVE A PRESS CONFERENCE TO UPDATE THE STATUS OF COVID 19 IN TEXAS TODAY AT 2PM.

THE CITY OF HOUSTON IS OPENING THE TESTING SITE AT BUTLER STADIUM TO PRE-SCREENED INDIVIDUALS OF ANY AGE WITH SYMPTOMS . YOU HAVE TO CALL FIRST FOR SCREENING. THE CITY IS ONLY GETTING 250 TEST KITS PER DAY FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN A SECOND TEST SITE UNTIL THEY CAN PROCURE MORE TESTS.

SIGNS COULD BE POSTED AROUND PLAYGROUNDS AND BASKETBALL COURTS AND FENCES ERECTED IN HARRIS COUNTY PARKS WITH REMINDERS ABOUT SOCIAL DISTANCING. MAYOR SYLVESTER TURNER TOURED SOME PARKS YESTERDAY AND SAID THERE ARE STILL SOME ISSUES WITH PEOPLE CONGREGATING.

HOUSTON METHODIST HOSPITAL IS USING BLOOD PLASMA FROM A RECOVERED COVID 19 PATIENT AND GIVING A TRANSFUSION TO A CRITICALLY ILL PATIENT WITH THE VIRUS. THE HOSPITAL GOT THE GO AHEAD FROM THE F-D-A IN THE EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE LATE YESTERDAY.

EXPECT TO SEE MORE FIRST RESPONDERS WEARING PROTECTIVE GEAR WHEN THEY INTERACT WITH THE PUBLIC.

THE GALVESTON FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS THREE CASES OF COVID 19 -- THEY PICKED UP ANOTHER TWO YESTERDAY. AT ONE OF THEIR FACILITIES, GALVESTON FIRE TESTED 26 EMPLOYEES: TWO WERE POSITIVE, 17 WERE NEGATIVE AND THE RESULTS OF SEVEN TESTS ARE STILL PENDING.

HOUSTON POLICE CHIEF ART ACAVEDO REPORTS THREE MORE CASES ON THE POLICE FORCE, BRINGING THE TOTAL TO TEN. 220 OFFICERS ARE QUARANTINED.

BRAZOS COUNTY IS REPORTING THEIR FIRST FATALITY, A MAN IN HIS 80'S WHO WAS IN HOSPICE.

MISSOURI CITY COUNCILMAN JEFF BONEY TWEETS FROM A HOSPITAL I-C-U ROOM THAT HE'S TESTED POSITIVE BUT IS IN GOOD SPIRITS.

THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE REPORTS OIL PIPELINE OPERATORS IN WEST TEXAS ARE SENDING LETTERS TO OIL COMPANIES ASKING THEM TO STOP PRODUCTION DUE TO STORAGE TANKS ALREADY REACHING THEIR CAPACITY.
