HEB is stepping up to help local restaurants in the Houston area. They sent out this press release:
At a time when the restaurant industry needs support more than ever, H-E-B will leverage its #TexansHelpingTexans campaign to launch H-Town Take-Out, a community outreach initiative encouraging Houstonians to support local restaurants and businesses. On Friday, March 27, all 90 H-E-B stores in the Greater Houston-area will provide their Partners (employees) with take-out meals from local restaurants, leading by example to encourage participation from the community.
“During these difficult, uncertain times we must come together and support one another,” said Scott McClelland, President, H-E-B Food/Drug. “We are using our platform to create awareness for the needs of local restaurants at a time when community support is invaluable. We invite Houstonians to make a difference in any way they can whether it’s placing a delivery order or donating. We encourage everyone to engage by tagging their favorite restaurants on social media and using #TexansHelpingTexans.”
In compliance with the recent City of Houston/Harris County Stay-At-Home order, restaurants are essential businesses and continue to serve the community with take-out, curbside and delivery offerings. Check with your favorite restaurant for additional ways to support them.
H-E-B recently launched Texans Helping Texans, a community-outreach initiative providing solutions guided by digital innovation, compassionate philanthropy and the generous spirit and strength that brings together all Texans during uncertain times. Along with providing innovative solutions to help those in need, H-E-B is dedicated to the communities it serves, recently making a $3 million donation to support Texas nonprofits that provide aid to our most vulnerable communities – seniors, children and low-income families - and organizations conducting groundbreaking coronavirus research. Additionally, H-E-B delivered 15 truckloads of food and household supplies to 18 food banks across the state.
