The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention Disaster Relief hotline is taking calls Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm.
Chaplain Director Gordon Knight says these are special ministers available to take your calls and help you. “We go through a training that certifies us through a national entity called the North American Mission Board. All of us have done some other kind of counseling in crisis situations,” he tells KTRH News.
They are standing by if you need to pray and receive spiritual comfort, or just listen if you need to talk.
“Personally I’ve been to all the shootings in Texas and we’ve done our chaplain work in those areas. It’s not just anybody answering these calls. These are folks who are seasoned doing counseling on the chaplain level,” Knight says. The groups says this is the best way they can be of service to the community at this moment in time.
