Coronavirus VS Cruising and International Travel

You are hearing a lot about quarantined cruise ships lately. Spencer McGowan of McGowan Group Asset Management says cruise company stocks are down. "Carnival Cruise is absolutely slammed. It has been about $52 per share. Yesterday falling to below $42. No one wants to get on a ship with those headlines!"

He has a prediction: " This doronavirus epidemic is going to have a horrible impact on the cruise industry. On a ship you are confined and you have no means to escape."

Travel agent Shayla Northcutt of Northcutt Travel says they are being flexible."We are being affected by it daily. Not only the cruise industry but international travel is being affected by it. Cancellations and re-booking are being placed right now." Houston-based Northcutt says her group is still booking every day. "It really is not affecting our local ports too much. People who have traveled to those locations that have been affected will not be allowed on the ships that dock in our area." Northcutt adds that other ports are another story --- like cruises that leave out of the Mediterranean. Her team is booking cruises out of local ports that will not include international passengers,,,and other travel to possibly infected areas is being re-routed
