Animal cruelty crime a focus in Harris County

Crime Stoppers of Houston and the Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce ask for the public's help to find those who abuse animals.

Crime Stopper's Andy Kahan said they'll start profiling the top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, who have warrants out for their arrests.

"We are currently asking help from the public who are our eyes and ears out there. We know somebody knows where these people are. We are asking them to get in touch with Crime Stoppers," said Khan. "It's time for you to take a stand and send a message out that we as a society are not going to tolerate animal cruelty and you will be prosecuted because animal cruelty is a crime."

Nearly two years ago, the taskforce was formed to streamline where and how animal cruelty can be reported in the Greater Houston area.

He says the public can report any animal cruelty crimes to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
