No real fireworks debate last night

Texas Republicans wren't impressed with what they saw on the debate stage in Iowa last night. In fact, political scientist Allan Saxe summed up what he saw in one word; boring.

"You could have closed your eyes and gone back to any number of debates; the same topics, etc.," Saxe said.

He says there were no breakout performances, and no real fireworks.

"Nobody had a knockout blow, which I think a lot of people were expecting between Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren because of what Bernie supposedly said," Saxe explained.

So in the end, the top tier remains the top tier with Bernie, Warren, and Joe Biden. Texas State Representative James White says the big winner was President Trump.

"I'm not quote sure that any they will have a nominee ready for prime time that's ready to go against Trump," he said.

The next debate is in New Hampshire on February 7th, four days after the Iowa Caucuses.
