If you're looking for a job this year, there are certain fields that are abundant with various positions.
Adaptive Construction Solutions, Inc. President Nicholas Morgan said many construction, hospitality and government jobs are available this year. The most jobs will be in healthcare.
"Memorial Herman Hospital System and Methodist are two of the largest employers in Houston. Between the two of them, nearly 6,000 jobs they're currently hiring for," said Morgan.
Followed by education.
"Spring ISD and Klein ISD are both actively hiring with a total of 3,600 positions currently available," said Morgan.
He said there will be a decline in job growth in the energy sector and retail this year, but still plenty of hires.
Morgan added the current job market and low unemployment, (3.5% in Houston, which is historically low), is good for job seekers.
"It’s an excellent for people entering the job market or trying to re-enter. They can leverage programs that are based on work-based learning like on the job training or registered apprenticeships," said Morgan.
He suggests using WorkForce Solutions or goapprenticeship.com.
If you’re looking for a temporary job, the US Census Bureau is hiring full and part-time workers in various positions locally.
Job Fair X manager Scott Lobenberg said for the first time ever, they’ll be hosting a Houston job fair on January 27 at Hilton Houston Galleria. Expect 36 businesses on site to meet with job seekers.
