How to Cure a Hangover

There may be drinking tonight, and that means heads may be pounding and some of the most unfortunate among us could hug porcelain.

How do you cure a hangover?

According to the Mayo Clinic, our national resource for all things medical, time is your own salvation.

Beyond that, drink a lot of water. It’s about flushing toxins from the system. If you had sludge on the back patio, you’d hose it down. Think of it as hosing down your innards.

If you can keep food down, carbohydrates can be your friend because they can raise blood sugar and that can settle your stomach. You might want a load of bread for toast, or crackers. Pasta can be helpful.

Bouillon soup is good and easy on the stomach.

For the pounding, throbbing, relentless headache, nothing works better than aspirin. If that upsets your stomach take acetaminophen, like Tylenol.

And then yawn, the Mayo Clinic suggests, and go back to bed. See step one. Time is the only cure, and it can pass most easily if you’re asleep.
