Houston Aquarium Has New Tiger Habitat

If you have guests in town for the holiays and are looking for something to do this weekend, the Downtown Aquarium's expanded tiger habitat is open to the public.

The popular exhibit recently underwent a four-million-dollar upgrade to add more outdoor space for the great cats, named Nemo, Marina, Coral and Reef.

The four tigers live in the 35-thousand-square-foot habitat.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund filed suit under the federal Endangered Species Act on behalf of the tigers, but put the lawsuit on hold when the expansion started.

The new exhibit opened yesterday.
