Flu Season Is Here!


Flu season is just starting to seriously ramp up here and and the Houston Health Department is encouraging you, your friends, coworkers and your family to get a flu shot. Almost 1900 Texans died from the virus last flu season. Flu activity usually peaks in January and lasts until May. A spokesperson for the Houston Health Department reminds you that the flu is very unpredictable and the vaccine will increase your chances of not contracting the virus, or making the symptoms milder for you. To find the nearest health center, contact the city of Houston's 311 information line. The Texas Department of State Health Services confirms that six children have already died in Texas of flu-related causes. Their ages range from younger than 1 year old to 16 years old. It is known that 4 of the six were not vaccinated with no information about the other 2.
