The Resistance: Gun Control Agenda Sees Pushback

The political left likes to tout itself as "the resistance" to President Trump, but when it comes to the left's gun control push, they're getting a dose of resistance. At least four states and 200 counties nationwide are declaring themselves gun sanctuaries--refusing to abide by or enforce gun control laws that violate the Second Amendment. Montgomery County just became the largest Texas county to join the gun sanctuary movement. In Virginia, where Democrats just won control of the state legislature, local jurisdictions are already vowing to push back on gun control.

Many of these new gun control laws are touted as "common sense legislation" and aimed at preventing "gun violence." But David Amad with Open Carry Texas warns people to be wary of those terms. "When the cop shoots the robber, they call that gun violence...when the woman shoots the rapist, they call that gun violence....when the dad shoots the home invader, they call that gun violence," he says. "They take every proper, right, correct, just, fair, and good use of a gun, and they call it gun violence."

Amad tells KTRH it is important for local jurisdictions in Texas and elsewhere to keep fighting back, because the gun control movement will continue to advance its ultimate goal. "In the end, what they want to do is get rid of guns in this country," he says. "They want English and Australian-style gun confiscation, and they're never going to get it....if we have to fight them in the streets to keep them from doing it, we will."
