Mega adoption event this weekend in downtown Houston

Tomorrow and Sunday, come out early to snag a line in place to find your next furry family member at the first mega adoption event in the Houston area.

Walt Fenstermacher with Brandywine Valley SPCA said they'll have 1,000 pets trying to make a connection for their furr-ever home and bond with a human.

"And, we make sure they have a really good foundation, a medical history to go into their new home and be successful," said Fenstermacher.

All adoption fees are $25-dollars for each pet and includes the animal being micro-chipped, spayed or neutered with current vaccinations.

He said attendees should be patient, as everyone is not allowed in at the same time.

"The wait can be hours long. We make sure that we have a few hundred folks in so that we can do appropriate match-making, and then we slowly let more groups in," said Fenstermacher

Montgomery Animal Shelter's Mark Wysocki said they’ll have all ages and breeds.

"We want to have as many animals find their forever homes and really looking for the overall community support to help this event and to help all of the participating shelters," said Wysocki. "There will be adult cats, adult dogs and seniors, as well. There will be a wide variety between all of the participating shelters. Everyone should be hopefully be able to find that new forever friend that they're looking for."

The event is from 10 am to 5 pm at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
