A long term Dallas Police officer came home Saturday night and saw/heard what he thought was an intruder in his home. He shot the intruder. That's when he realized the man his shot was his adult son! He called 911 immediately and when DeSoto Police arrived, they found him with his son and got the son to the hospital. It was determined that the younger man had an injured forearm and his injuries were not life threatening.
The DeSoto Police treated this call like any other shooting. No arrests have been made and the department spokesperson explained that if they want to press charges, it will go to the D.A. first where a decision to press or not to press charges will be made.
The names of the officer and his son have not been released.
