The CDC has released figures that show the toll suicide is taking on the most vulnerable elements of the population.
From 2007 to 2017 the rate of suicide for 10 to 24 year olds increased 56%, the number accelerating toward the end of that decade.
Homicide rates have also increased for the demographic, though not at such an alarming rate.
Researchers are looking for the answer to the most important question – why? What’s causing more young people today to take their lives?
The answers are elusive, assuming there are several.
