Number of illegal immigrants in U.S. hits new record

New research says the number of illegal immigrants in the United States has reached a new record high.

The new numbers show 14.3 million illegals here, which is a jump of two million since 2017. David Ray with the Federation for American Immigration Reform tells KTRH why these numbers have skyrocketed.

"We've had coordinated surges of migrants in caravans. There was the judicial ruling known as the Flores Amendment," Ray said.

And of course there is catch and release, but DHS said this week they ending that program, which Ray says is a positive step.

"Ending that would be a game changer in terms of our ability to regain control of illegal immigration," Ray explained. "Catch and release has been the jet fuel behind the current border surge."

And that surge is costing you, the tax payer, about $132 Billion a year.
