Tens of thousands of people of people are expected to be at NRG today when President Trump will participate in an event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India.
India and the US are reportedly working towards a trade agreement that could be announced today while the president and prime minister are in Houston.
Republican National Committee Deputy Press Secretary Michael Joyce said it will be a great opportunity to emphasize the strong ties between the United States and India.
"I think when you put the oldest democracy and the largest democracy in the world together to put a trade deal together, I think this will be a massive win for the United States, for India, as well to increase pressure on China, as well," said Joyce.
He said the trade agreement would reaffirm the strategic partnership between the United States and India.
“Hopefully a deal gets done. There's going to be a couple more times that President Trump gets together with the prime minister from India here at the G20, as well as in Ohio, so it should be pretty interesting to watch," said Joyce.
After this event, the president will then go to Ohio today where he will be joined by Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia for a tour of a new, Australian-owned manufacturing facility.
