Sugar Land Police looking for suspect accused of murdering clerk

Sugar Land police issued an arrest warrant for Treveon James Young, 24, of Houston, for the murder of Hamid Lakhani, 63, of Sugar Land.

Detectives believe Young shot and killed Lakhani during a robbery at WB Food Mart, 13003 West Bellfort, and is currently hiding in the Houston or Dallas area.

Two 16-year-old males from the Houston area committed the robbery with Young and have been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. Sugar Land police also arrested Kameryn Lamisha James, 17, of Houston, who drove the getaway car.

License plate recognition cameras located near WB Food Mart helped detectives identify the vehicle used in the murder. The information from the cameras led to the arrests of three people involved in the crime and the identification of the shooter.

Police responded to the store on Aug. 31 at 8:30 p.m. after customers reported a man inside with a gunshot wound. Lakhani, who worked at the store as a clerk, was found lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound. He was treated and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video and determined that Lakhani was shot by one of three men who entered the store to commit a robbery. The shooter was later identified as Young. Surveillance video posted at

Anyone with information about the location of Young should call the Sugar Land Police Department at (281) 275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at (281) 342-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Young.
